Official Call: Kent County Republican Convention
There shall be a meeting of duly elected Precinct Delegates and the At-Large Delegates to the County Convention at 7:00 pm on Monday, April 11, 2022 in the Imperial Ballroom located in the Amway Grand Plaza, 187 Monroe Avenue NW Grand Rapids, MI 49503.
The purpose of this meeting shall be to elect Delegates and Alternates to the April 23, 2022 Michigan Republican Party State Endorsement Convention to be held at the DeVos Place in the City of Grand Rapids. The purpose of the State Endorsement Convention is as follow:
- One (1) Secretary of State Nominee
- One (1) Attorney General Nominee
- Two (2) Justices to the Michigan Supreme Court Nominees
- Two (2) members of the State Board of Education Nominees
- Two (2) members each for the Wayne State University Board of Governors, the Michigan State University Board of Trustees, and the University of Michigan Board of Regents Nominees.
Transacting other such business as may properly come before the State Endorsement Convention.
Precinct delegates and certain at-large delegates given the preference under Rule 8 of the Convention Rules, but who do not attend the County Convention, must notify the chair of the County Executive Committee, Rob VerHeulen, or the following designee, Mike Sullivan, in writing (the “Notification”) of the person’s intention to become a delegate or alternate delegate to the state convention. The notification can be in any written form, including by letter or email, and must be received by the Chair of the County Executive Committee (or designee) by no later than the date of the County Convention. Failure to provide the notification as provided herein shall mean that the person shall not be given preference under Rule 8 of the Convention Rules. It is not necessary to send a notification if a person attends the County Convention.
ONLY Precinct Delegates duly elected at the August 4, 2020 Primary Election, the most recent Republican nominees for County and State Legislative offices, the Michigan Congressional Delegation, the Republican National Committeeman and National Committeewoman from Michigan, and Michigan Republican Party Officers (see Rule 5B) where such person resides in the county will be seated and considered eligible to vote at this convention.
Delegate check-in is on the first floor, guest check-in is on the second floor. The event is closed to the media.
